DJ has had plenty of practice running in the field trial puppy stakes, but this trial was going to be special. His owner, Rich, was going to run DJ for the first time in the puppy stake and this was Rich’s first field trial. There were a lot of smiles and the nerves were on edge for Rich (not according to Rich!).
The event was a successful practice run for both Rich and DJ. Soon after the placements and celebration of the win, DJ was on his way home to Boston for the first time…a country dog going to the big city! We hope you enjoy your time together and we will see DJ later in the summer for further training.
Here are a few photos of DJ with his new Mom Sarah and big sister Indie. As you can see, DJ is already fitting in very well in his new surroundings. We look forward to more photos of DJ in the big city.
Lone Star brings home the blue! It was a crazy trial with high winds and very cold temps. Todd and Lone Star had a fantastic day at the trial. Lone Star’s owner Betsey was very happy to hear the news of Lone Star winning and wishes that she was there to see her run. This makes 3 dogs qualified for this year’s Open National.
DJ won the puppy stake at the Central Virginia ESS Field Trial held in WV. This 1st place cup was won the year before by our dog Dibbs who Scott now owns. DJ is really coming along in his training. When we told his owner Rich that DJ had won, his words were of coarse he did.
Rennie places 2nd in the open at the Central Virginia ESS Field Trial held in WV. The pieces are finally falling in place for Rennie. He is a dog to keep an eye on! His owner Betsey was very excited to hear the news about her boy.
Dudley has won the United States Open High Point Award for 2017! This award goes to the Open All-Age Dog that accumulates the most points in open stakes from the 2016 Open National Championship up until the 2017 Open National Championship. Dudley had two wins, five second-place awards, two third-place awards and two fourth-place awards. It went down to the last trial of the year, but a fourth-place ribbon secured the annual award!
During 2017, Dudley finished 70% of his trials, placed in 55% of his trials and was awarded placements by a remarkable 19 different judges! He is a true joy and a testament to a strong foundation and level-headed personality. This fall, he ran 11 trials in five weeks; a true test of a dog’s ability to “hold it together” in the field trial world. We are so excited for Dudley’s owner Pat and having been able to win this award.
Dudley has 30 puppies on the ground with Rich’s puppy DJ being the oldest and showing great promise. Pay attention for additional Dudley litters coming in 2018!
