Cheryl’s First Day Training At Craney Hill!

Our new client Cheryl spent the weekend at Craney Hill Kennel for a consultation in dog training. Cheryl was put to work with our dogs in the field and in the training yard. Cheryl's english cocker spaniel Gunner has been here for training so she was dying to see him. Todd put Cheryl and Gunner to work and they both did a really nice job working together as you can see in the video. They both progressed in their training during the weekend and we are looking forward to more training sessions with Cheryl and her crazy cocker Gunner.  Enjoy the video and you can see more photos of their weekend here.

The Dogs On Vacation In NY!

The dogs had a great time swimming in the cool NY water. The weather was simply wonderful for all the dogs. Thank you Betsey for taking us to this special spot so the dogs could swim and run free.  Enjoy the video! The photos that were in the video can be seen here.

Purchase Our Complete Training Manual

After years of people asking if we had a book, we have finally answered with our training manual that has been developed as a companion manual for our seminars and will be a companion manual for our video program that is in development. This manual is a step by step guide to develop your dog from a puppy to a finished dog. This is a clean explanation of the steps we generally go through to develop our own dogs and Client dogs that are with us for development.

Our training program is specifically developed to help owners that work for a living or train alone. This system can be completed successfully without the need for training groups and a lot of ground. You only need commitment, patience and some time hunting your dog!

The manual is coil bound on gloss paper with cover stock. It has 104 interior pages filled with explanations, photographs and exhibits. The cost is $50.00 (US dollars) and includes priority shipping to the lower 48 via USPS. Please email the name and address for shipping and either mail a check or click the Buy Training Manual button to pay via PayPal. As always, please forward the info to others that may have interest. PAYPAL LINK

Alan & Kermit SD Wild Pheasants

The most picturesque are the SD Public Lands pics.  Kermit and I went out by ourselves.  We put up some praire chickens but that is all we saw all day long.  Vast beauty and desolate.  Not a soul around but us.  Great time.

Field Trial & Hunt Test Prospects!

4242

We have a three English Springer Spaniels prospects (2 male/1 female) and one English Cocker Spaniel prospect (female) we are accepting reservations on in advance. We are assuming all the risk in developing these puppies. Your requirement is a 50% deposit for the finished dog and a commitment to an additional 6-9 months of training/transition to you as the new owner/handler, plus all bird costs, entry fees and veterinarian costs.

When it is all added up, you should plan on a roughly $15,000 commitment over the next 24 to 30 months, with an initial deposit of $4,000.

These puppies are now approximately seven months of age and we have selected these to be developed to the highest standard based on the talent exhibited and the personality characteristics to go to work based on how biddable they are. Once fully developed/transitioned at about three years of age, our goal would be for the new owner to be fully competing with the dogs themselves.

The first person to sign up will get first pick as the pups are developed. Contact us with questions. This has been a successful model to reduce your risk at obtaining a competitive dog as compared to the risk of buying a puppy, paying for training and "hoping" the puppy makes it. Our other puppies being developed will be sold as gun dogs as they lack the potential to reach the highest level of training.

Setting Up At Camp In Colorado

We finally rolled into camp in Colorado late this afternoon. It was a long trip and all of the dogs are happy to be out of the truck and stretching those legs. Here are a few photos of what we look at while at camp.

Alan & Kermit Go Sharp-tail Hunting In ND

Notes from Alan!

IMG_2228

Kermit and I had a wonderful day of Sharp-tailed Grouse hunting today in ND. After 2 weekends of Field Trials and being on the road for nearly two weeks, this was a great reward for our hard work. It was a pleasure to see Kermit in his true element of hunting and not having to worry so much about the trial rules and regulations. We did very well and I did not even have my own gun. It was a side by side though, Todd and Christina!
