Recently, we worked with Pat and Jeff to assist them in preparing for bringing their dogs home. During this time, Roz and Simon will be taking a short break, while Pat and Jeff will have training homework to complete while the dogs are home. Roz and Simon will receive a break from training with Todd, but they still need to work with Pat and Jeff.
Roz and Simon are field trial dogs, but they also need to be obedient at home, as well as for Pat and Jeff. To ensure that the dogs are performing the obedience drills correctly, Pat and Jeff will be sent home with differing drills to practice. Afterward, they will need to report back to Todd and discuss any adjustments that may be necessary to the training drills.
This arrangement aims to reinforce the concept of obedience not only during training but also when Pat and Jeff are alone with the dogs. By practicing the drills independently, they will gain a deeper understanding of their dogs' capabilities and areas for improvement. This hands-on experience will enable them to effectively communicate with Todd and make informed decisions regarding any further changes to the training drills.
